Every year we have the honor of capturing a very special event. On the Berry College campus there is a elementary school nestled in the mountain campus, Berry Elementary. At that elementary school you will find a kindergarten class, and like any other kindergarten class, they are learning about the letter “w”. Unlike any other kindergarten class it is how they learn about that letter; by participating in a make believe wedding of their own! Through this lesson, they learn what weddings are all about. They also learn more about the true value of friendships too!
The children are given roles just as the roles that are in a wedding. There is a role for an officiant, musicians and readers as well. They were assigned roles through a drawing of names of the roles. The children are also taught that each role is equally important on the day.
We absolutely love doing this for the school and children every year. We split up, just as we would with a real wedding, where Chris will be with the guys getting ready and the Katie will be with the girls. Whether the bride is wearing Christian Louboutins or Keds, traditions still hold true, that the bride has a sixpense in her shoes for good luck.
Of course we could not forget about the dashing, handsome, boys! Something about little boys with tuxes on that is just so cute!
The girls had simple, yet pretty bouquets that they carried. And carried well they did. They just loved them! The flower girl also had a cute little basket for her all important task.
Here are the cute little ladies! They were both fun, sweet and silly!
The bride was just as cute as can be wearing a fabric covered Minnie Mouse ears to hold her veil.
The wedding, like every year, took place at the beautiful Frost Chapel. This affair is attended, not only by the parents of the children participating, but also all of the staff and students of the elementary school to show support. The children from last year’s class, who are now in first grade, enter in and sit in front of the first pew to get a front row seat of what they did. The chapel is decorated just like any other wedding for these children to really enjoy their wedding.
Preparing the way for the bride!
The ceremony was just as fun as ever! The vows were said not as a commitment of love to each other, but rather a commitment to be friends. They also exchanged a big hug in the end! They all did such a wonderful job through the whole day! We were happy to be a part of this again and look forward to next year’s wedding!
yess! I love the kindergarten weddings!
The smiling grandparents fills my heart with joy! You’re able to find sweet moments no matter where you are. Simply Beautiful!
So very cute! Great job!
My favorite image is of the grandparents smiling.
Seriously so cute. I look forward to this blog post every year! Precious.
