Our first wedding in Highlands this summer kicked off to a wonderful start. Laura and Andy have had quite an adventure getting to this day. To say that this day was much anticipated by all would really be an understatement as they really took time and careful thought into their lives together and what marriage truly meant to them.
Once again we are honored to be documenting weddings at Old Edwards Inn, as their staff and its venues are one of the best, well managed and beautiful that we have ever been a part of. Nestled just outside of the Nantahala National Forest, the greens are always lush and summers are a pleasant time of year. Not to mention, Highlands is considered one of only places in the continental United States as a rainforest, with average annual rainfalls over 86 inches. With that said, there is always a thought that it may rain on any given wedding day.
The day started wonderfully and as we neared the time for bridal and wedding party portraits the heavens opened up and it just poured. Seems as if the rain came out of no where! But within the hour it cleared up again, cooling off for a pleasant ceremony. The florals for Laura’s bouquet and Andy’s boutonniere were just stunning, as always, because of the talent of Kirk at Oakleaf! The day was coordinated and families cared for by Allison, with WNC Weddings, through the rain and sunlight.
The Reception was a fantastic social time with friends and family coming together to celebrate this marriage. The menu was crafted, with the help of the bride, by Executive Chef Johannes Klapdohr and was enjoyed by all! Old Edward’s new pavilion is absolutely beautiful! With large, full windows and solid timber lining the ceiling; it truly brings the western North Carolina mountains to these weddings. The band Right On, kept everyone on their feet and moving all night as well!
Laura and Andy, it was quite an honor to be a part of your day and know that our heirloom photographs will be a family treasure for your lifetime to come as husband and wife. Thank you and congratulations!
