Many of you know that I, Katie, was born in the midwest farm lands. The family farm that is over 130 years old is still standing and the heart beat of the my heritage. In Iowa time seems to stand still for me. I moved while I was still young. Most of my memories there consist of family telling me of our days and routines, sadly I don’t remember much of them. It’s an odd feeling and very surreal to know it’s where you are from yet not be able to place the puzzle pieces of memories together. My memories more consist of returning yearly as children to see Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents. Those are the ones I hold so close to my heart and want Rosemary to also cherish as she grows up.
We wanted to take this slower part of the year for us and take Rosemary up to be introduced to her heritage. She was able to meet a Great Grandma, Great Aunts, and Uncle, Cousins and to breathe the fresh Iowa air. She won’t remember this trip, but it was such a joy to see her family meet her for the first time.
We are now in Chicago spending time with more family and friends. We took one quick picture of her outside as we were about to load up the car and get on the road. It was very cold out so we are all bundled up and ready for our drive.
Enjoy this one picture of Rosemary under the gorgeous cedar trees on the farm.
That’s so special! My uncle lives up there and sadly the only time I’ve ever gotten to go see Iowa was in Feb and it was covered in snow. 😉
