Well we are finally back home after quite an eye-opening trip to Maine. Our friend Eric Laurits, was a wonderful host and tour guide while we were there. The slideshow above is only a taste of what was experianced. It is a collection of what Katie and I captured. There are even a couple that Andrew Niesen and Erin Reed Adams grabbed of Katie and I. We must say that we sorely missed Garrett & Joy and wished we could have share this adventure with them! I really do not know where to begin to tell about this trip.

Here is a picture of our B&B.

We all went with the intention to recharge and relax, but we really went all over the east coast of Maine from shopping in the town of Ogunquit to checking out the Nubbles Lighthouse in York. Actually, the Nubble Lighthouse is the same one from some of the scenes from the music video that Nickel Creek did for the song “The Lighthouse’s Tale.” The following day we met up with David and Linda Murray, who showed us their wonderful studio in Kennebunk Port. Then they invited us for a delightful lunch at their incredible house in Goose Rocks Beach.

Here, we met up with J Sandifer and Emilie Sommer to add to the warm company. We even met John Santerre, who helps shooting with David and is a bight individual. Inside, David cooked up a delectable treat of mussels and pasta. Ahh, mussels! We then went for a stroll on the beach together, enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun along with the cool salty breeze.

That evening we played a most righteous game of Monopoly! It rather funny seeing how all these entrepreneurs would handle themselves with a lot of cash and property. Rachel Lacour Niesen, took it all(she was really getting Mark and I back for winning the night before)! In the end, she built so many hotels, it would make Donald Trump proud.

The next day, we went to the Old Port section of Portland, Maine with Rachel, Erin and Eric while leaving Mark Adams and Andrew to do a Shoot Q setup party. While in the Old Port area, we shopped and walked and shopped some more. No worries, we did not go overboard.

There is something to be said about leaving your work at home while you are on vacation. Quite frankly, we all found it to be difficult. Especially, since we all love doing what we do. And since we love doing what we do, we cannot wait to do more of it. Photography is more than just a job its a passion that we share.

As we finished up our shopping tour we left by the working lobster piers, where we ate at the Portland Lobster Co. for some fine fried shrimp and good ‘ol Clam Chowder. That evening we all got back together; Mark, Erin, Andrew, Rachel, Jeff and his wife, Emilie, J, Eric, John, Katie and I did have some dinner in Portland at this really delicious pizza place called the Flatbread Pizza Company. It included using the freshest, organic ingredients while being green conscious by firing up the pizza in a cement kiln right there, just yards away from our table. After that we went to the post dinner fun at an Irish Tavern Ri Ra. Followed by a late night run to a 24-hour LL Bean!

The final day was not exception. Our flight was not until the evening so we had some time to kill. We did have to have a honey dipped doughnuts and some other rather tasty treats at Congdon’s Doughnuts.

So after breakfast, by the way, there is a Dunkin Doughnuts on every corner in the New England states so we had to try something different, Andrew, Rachel, Katie and I decided to head to Boston to see Harvard University before heading out. We had a late lunch then pushed our way through Boston rush hour. Upon making it to the airport we said our final farewells to Eric and the Northeast. Oh, not to mention, Katie and I had our first Whoopie Pie!

Thank you Eric, David and Linda, J, Emilie, and John for making our stay a fun and memorable one. Also, thank you for you kind and warm hospitality.

-Chris and Katie

WOW…….just breathtaking!!! Doug took a little trip to Maine w/ his dad a couple years ago and still talks about how beautiful it was up there and how we should someday go up there ourselves! He only took a few pictures there (not a big picture-taker he is!) so I didn’t know how beautiful it is until NOW! I see all the pictures you brought back home and just wow! 😀 I’m gonna show them to Doug tomorrow, he’s gonna be so excited!

I’m glad you guys had a fantastic time! 🙂

P.S. Cute pic of Chris eating icecream sandwich LOL

What a great post! Now I almost feel like we were there. Glad you had fun. Looking forward to catching up soon.

We have managed to find some time to slip away to Maine with our buddies from LaCour and our friend :e:. We’ll have much more to recap from the trip soon, but for now we still have more light houses to be explored and lobster to be enjoyed.

(nothing like that nice evening buttery sun at 3:30!!!!)

HEY!! My husband’s granparents live about 10 minutes from there- we were in your exact spot a year ago! I love Maine- you guys have fun!

We love doing family portraits. Being able to capture one of the most special relionship circles in life is such a joy. Last week we were with a wonderful family. Tim, Meagan, Zach and Everett were all adorable together and a fun to be with. The boys kept us all laughing. : )

Here is an email that Meagan sent us after our session:

“Hi Katie and Chris!
Thank you for spending so much time with our family on Monday night.  We talked about the park and taking pictures for the rest of the night.  Dinner was great at the diner…thank you for the suggestion!  We need to go back just to get another great cheeseburger.

Everett’s first drowsy words on Tuesday morning were “I had fun taking pictures.”  It was very sweet.  Not only did our family have a fun time, but we get to see pictures of it!

Thanks again!
Meagan”

I loved hearing this from her. We love being able to let a family be a family. We just tag along to capture it.
